위성이 진짜 충돌했다. 다행히 시베리아 상공에서. 이리듐 위성과 러시아의 수명이 만료된 위성이 서로 충돌했다고 한다.
In 1964 an American navigational satellite failed to reach orbit, spreading plutonium-238 around the globe.
More recent accidents have involved Soviet satellites. In January 1978, Cosmos 954, powered by 110 pounds of uranium, spread thousands of pieces of radioactive debris across Canada.
Abstract The presence of excess uranium-235 was detected in many of the rain samples collected at Fayetteville (36°N, 94°W), Arkansas, during the period between April 1983 and March 1984. The experimental data indicate that the uranium-235 originated from the nuclear reactor on board the Soviet satellite Cosmos-1402, which fell over the South Atlantic Ocean on 7 February 1983.
